Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York
Dr Nnenna Ukachi is a final year fellow in Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation with clinical and research focus in sickle cell disease. She is completing her fellowship at the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. Dr Ukachi’s interest in sickle cell disease began in Nigeria where she grew up, and continued through medical school at University of Jos in Nigeria. Dr Ukachi received her pediatric residency training at the New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn New York where she also served as chief resident. During her residency training, Dr Ukachi cared for children with sickle cell disease and became increasingly interested in the disparities in health outcomes for these children. With her fellowship training as well as her Masters degree in Public Health from Hofstra University, Dr Ukachi plans to continue her work in educating, managing and advocating for children with sickle cell disease in medically underserved communities in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa.
