Dr. Braxton is a founding member and served as vice president of the Advancement of Sickle Cell Disease Advocacy Project. As an independent psychosocial researcher Dr. Braxton works in collaboration with SCD research foundations, community based organizations, churches, fraternal organizations and school districts. Dr. Braxton’s most recent program development is titled “Assisting Students with Sickle Cell Disease”. The purpose of the program is to improve the quality of education students with SCD have been receiving due to disease related absenteeism. Dr. Braxton advocates for sickle cell disease management and treatment reforms, as the host of an inter-net radio broadcast titled A Dialogue about Sickle Cell Disease.
